I am greatly honored to have been chosen to represent Owens Elementary as the 2012-2013 teacher of the year. In my years here at Owens, I have been given the privilege of working with some outstanding teachers and faculty. We are family, and they have been my backbone over the years through the good and the bad. I love them everyone! I would not be where I am today without the support of my Owens family and the support of my husband, Rodney and our son, Will, who is a senior at West Limestone this year.

My love for teaching began when I was in elementary school here at Owens. I had some teachers who made learning fun and at the same time expected a lot out of their students. I want my students to work their hardest and do their best every single day. I will not expect any less of them, and in the mean time I hope they have fun and love to come to school. If I can make a positive impact in one student’s life, I will feel like I have been successful! I love my students, and I hope they know it.
