Owens Elementary students want to protect our Earth and its resources, so they begin with the end in mind. Every day we recycle plastic, paper, and cardboard. Parents and community members can be part of this effort by recycling at home and sending recyclable products to school. Labeled recycling bins are available at the front of our school if you prefer to drop off paper or plastic. Each month, Top Dog is awarded to the school that has the most pounds of plastic recycled per student. We want to keep Top Dog at Owens Elementary ALL year – so start sending in recycling products now!!

Please remember these guidelines:

** Place the paper or plastic in the appropriate bin.

** Please do not place garbage in the bins.

** If the bins are full, make sure the bag the products are in is securely closed and place it by the appropriate bin.

** The recycling pick up day for Owens will be Thursday or Friday.

** Any cardboard for recycling should be placed in the green trailer in front of the gym.

**Ink cartridges are also accepted at Owens Elementary for recycling. Please send them with your student or bring them to the front office. We earn up to $2 per cartridge, and these funds are used to support our technology classes.

**Aluminum cans are accepted for recycling at Owens.  Please have your child drop them at Mrs. Britton's classroom.

As a result of our recycling efforts, Owens Elementary has been awarded second place for several years in the Keep Athens/Limestone Beautiful countywide contest. Our CNP staff was awarded first place in the county for recycling the most steel cans during the 2013 – 2014 school year.

Thank you for your efforts to support our recycling projects!!
